Tristan and Isolda is inspired by Celtic legend. It has become an influential romance and tragedy. The tragic story is of the love between the Cornish knight Tristan and the Irish princess Isolda. Tristan was meant to transport Isolda to be the bride of his uncle, but they fell in love.
